INTRO CLASS

Clients with similar training experience are welcome to come try a class at no charge during any scheduled class time.

Our group fitness classes focus on developing strength, which is the foundation of all physical abilities; mobility and flexibility, which is what allows us to move freely and safely through both athletic and everyday functional movements; and cardiovascular endurance and local muscular stamina, which allows us to better perform many sporting or everyday tasks.

Our goal is to help our clients develop balanced physical abilities that improve health, performance and daily function, and improve the quality of life over the long term.

Classes are kept small to ensure a low client:trainer ratio (typically 5-10 clients) and allow our qualified and experienced trainers to instruct and coach closely and individualize training when appropriate. This format allows much of the benefit of personal training without the expense and with the supportive, fun and competitive environment of a group of teammates.

Do You Do CrossFit?

We are not a CrossFit affiliate. However, Catalyst Athletics has more experience with CrossFit training than nearly any gym or trainers in the world.

Catalyst Athletics founder and director of training, Greg Everett, co-owned CrossFit NorCal in Chico, CA, the fourth out of the now thousands of CrossFit affiliate gyms; additionally, he was on the coaching staff for many CrossFit certifications. Catalyst Athletics is also the source of instructional material and professional training for many CrossFit trainers and gym owners locally to internationally.

This extensive experience gives Catalyst Athletics a great advantage with regard to implementing CrossFit training principles effectively and safely. We use aspects of CrossFit training that we find valuable, while avoiding those we believe to be unproductive or even dangerous.

Our program differs largely from that of the typical CrossFit gym in that we develop long-term programming, emphasize strength, mobility and safety, and are not interested in simply making clients hurt. If you're interested in competing in the CrossFit Games, this is not the gym for you. If you're interested in being stronger, being more mobile, having better conditioning, being healthy and having a good time training, you will fit in well.


Getting Started

Because our focus is on quality of instruction, safety and effectiveness, clients without similar training experience must complete a series of personal training sessions to be eligible to join our fitness classes. Clients with previous CrossFit experience can join classes immediately (However, because the quality of instruction varies widely among CrossFit gyms, we may require you to work with a trainer if we feel you're not ready to train safely in the group format). Typically new clients require 5-8 personal training sessions.
